Wall Tent FAQ's

Are wall tents fire retardant?

Yes – Wall tents are treated with fire retardant and comply with the CPAI-84 Fire Code. You’ll find fire code labels sewn on the inside of the tent, providing verification in case a fire marshal requests proof.

Are wall tents waterproof?

Yes – the canvas is treated for waterproofing. Make sure your guy lines are pulled tight so that rainwater can easily run off the tent’s roof.

Are the frame and canvas sold together or separately?

They are sold separately.

This makes it easy to replace one component without buying a full setup — most customers eventually replace the canvas before the steel frame.

Bundle Discount:
When you purchase the frame and canvas together, you automatically receive a 10% bundle discount at checkout.

Are wall tents mold and mildew resistant?

Our canvas is treated with a proprietary, fluorine-free macromolecular compound for mold resistance before cutting and manufacturing. It effectively protects against the top 500 mold strains in North America. However, no treatment can cover every type, so it’s important to keep your tent dry and clean. If you encounter mold, we recommend treating it quickly—check out the Wall Tent Maintenance Guide for cleaning instructions.

Are wall tents good for winter camping?

Yes—when used with proper gear, safe stove practices, and trained supervision.

Can Scouts set them up themselves?

Yes, with guidance. Wall tents are excellent tools for teaching teamwork and responsibility.

Can I patch my wall tent canvas myself?

Yes. Stout Tent provides complimentary canvas patch kits to all customers. Send an email to Info@stouttent.com to request your kit.

How can I fix larger rips or holes in my wall tent canvas covering?

For more extensive repairs, we recommend checking with local shops experienced in natural canvas, such as RV awning repair or marine sail repair shops. Stout Tent also offers in-house repairs at market price. Shipping is the customer’s responsibility. Email Info@stouttent.com to request a repair quote.

Can I adjust my tent's stove-jack to accommodate a bigger stove?

Yes – Under the velcro canvas flap, there is a 3-6 in adjustable hole centered in a large grey high-temp fiberglass piece measuring 14” wide x 18” long. You can find a picture in the Wood Stove Guide.

You will need to cut a slit in the jack to open the hole. You can cut it to fit the exact size of your stove pipe (up to 6″). Here is a video showing the process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2ljgHEU1DM
